Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH)

Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) is a hormone produced by the pituitary gland that plays a crucial role in reproductive function.

In women, FSH helps regulate the menstrual cycle and stimulates the growth and maturation of ovarian follicles, which contain eggs. In men, FSH stimulates the production of sperm in the testes.

Low levels of FSH may indicate a problem with the pituitary gland or hypothalamus, which can lead to infertility or issues with puberty. Elevated levels of FSH in women may suggest diminished ovarian reserve or ovarian failure, while in men, high FSH levels may indicate testicular dysfunction or infertility.
